Charlotte Amalie
10 To many travelers, the mere mention of the US Virgin Islands' capital spawns images of
an exotic shopping bazaar. Indeed, it has the largest number of boutiques and jewelry shops
in the Caribbean, with most housed in architecturally rich, pastel-hued colonial buildings.
It's convenient, too, that the USVI's busiest port also has the largest duty-free allowance in
the Caribbean. If shopping isn't your thing, Charlotte Amalie ( Click here ) remains a fine
town to sharpen your knife and fork on pungent West Indian fare such as fungi, callaloo and
curried goat.
