One additional safety point that must be discussed is what to do in the
seconds immediately after a bomb blast. For example, you are seated at
your desk and hear a loud explosion outside the building. Your natural
reaction is to jump up, rush to window, and look to see what has hap-
pened. In all likelihood you will reach the window a second or two before
the pressure wave from the explosion blows it out and sends shards of glass
through you and anyone else standing in an unprotected area. According
to the U.S. State Department, this is exactly what caused the death toll to
be so high from the Al Qaeda bombing attack on the U.S. embassy in
