was obtained. The information is available to be used to achieve a wide
variety of goals. If the system is being used for access control in a corpo-
rate parking lot, the authorized vehicle is recognized and the security gate
is opened automatically without the need for the driver to stop and enter
an access code. The date and time of entry are also recorded and stored.
Exhibit 13.4 (left) is a picture of a Zamir recognition device.
The system was originally used as a revenue-enhancing device for facil-
ities with long-term parking, such as airports. In fact, the Zamir system
was originally implemented at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport for just that

purpose. However, the system's applicability to enhancing security has
recently caught the interest of governments and private corporations
around the world. The potential uses of this system are impressive. If a
road encircles your facility, you can place these systems so as to ensure that
only authorized vehicles have access to the perimeter. The system also can
be used to create an alert for a specific vehicle's license plate. If, for exam-
ple, an employee is terminated, his or her access permission can be revoked
