CHAPTER 13
Technological
Security
WHILE CHAPTER 12 DEALT WITH PHYSICAL SECURITY, specifi-
cally the use of physical impediments to limit access or vulnera-
bility to a certain type of attack and protocols to limit access, this chapter
explores the types of technological security devices currently available that
will allow an individual or firm to dramatically enhance the capabilities
of any security plan. Today there are devices of such sophistication avail-
able to the civilian market as to almost guarantee that it will be impossible
to gain access to a protected facility without being detected and ultimately
intercepted. We mentioned a few of these measures in Chapter 6 during
our discussion of safety precautions in the home. Here we go into these
systems in greater detail in regard to upgrading the level of security at an
office, factory, or other corporate facility.
