) Gilles and Elisabeth built their Beautiful Adventure in a great neighbourhood of
Diego: quiet, yet close to the centre, and with good views of the bay. Because the building
is so new (it opened in 2011), everything is bright, fresh and impeccable, with colourful
sheets and lemur and baobab friezes on the walls. Gilles and Elisabeth are lovely hosts and
will bend over backwards to ensure you have a good time.

ageur is not exactly in a postcard location, but what the hotel is offering is conviviality and
a chance to be a little closer to the local community. As well as having nice but slightly
noisy rooms (simple, colourful, with old-fashioned bathrooms), the building has become
an important community focus point: neighbourhood associations have their offices there,
there is a kids' club on Wednesdays, movie nights on Thursdays, live music on Fridays on
the terrace; the list goes on. The hotel also uses solar panels for hot water.

Diego Suarez in Diego: breakfast or a sundowner on the balcony really takes some beating.
You can sometimes spot dolphins, and watching container ships or cruise ships come in is
majestic. The rooms are sparsely furnished but spacious and light (opt for one upstairs).
Some share bathrooms.
Hôtel Belle Vue

lively hotel that is the only budget option with charm in Diego. The rooms are simple, but
clean, with fan and net. The ancient bathrooms and terminal plumbing do need some TLC,
but what really does it at Belle Vue is the view of the bay from the terrace, the relaxed at-
mosphere, and the bar, ideal for sundowners.
