Ambilobe is a junction town for transport between the northeast coast (Vohémar, Marojejy,
Sambava) andMadagascar'snorth(Diego Suarez) andnorthwest coast (Ambanja). Aswith
junction towns the world over, it is neither attractive nor interesting but if you need to stay
the night,

bet.
You'll find vehicles to Diego Suarez (Ar15,000, three hours) and Ambanja (Ar15,000,
1½ hours) throughout the day; taxis-brousses for Vohémar (Ar30,000, eight hours) leave
daily. There are also vehicles to Sambava (Ar40,000, 12 hours).

The popular northern circuit from Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) to Nosy Be
offered by travel agents means that a number of 4WD often drop their clients in
