Evasion Sans Frontière TOUR

in Madagascar, specialises in the north; it's a well-oiled machine, and their Diego-Nosy Be
circuits take in all the highlights. They also organise excursions on Nosy Be, including a
day trip around the island and excursions to Lokobe.

Air
Air Madagascar ( 86 613 60; www.airmadagascar.com ; Rte de l'Ouest, Hell-Ville)
Flies daily to/from Antananarivo (one hour, €184) and several times a week to/from
Majunga (Mahajanga; one hour, €150) and Diego Suarez (25 minutes, €123).
Air Austral ( 86 612 32; www.air-austral.com ; Blvd de l'Indépendance) Flies direct to
Réunion (2½ hours) and Mayotte (45 minutes).
Boat
Small speedboats shuttle between the mainland port of Ankify and Hell-Ville on Nosy Be
(Ar10,000, 30 minutes, 5.30am to 4pm). They work like taxis-brousses and leave when
full. Trade winds pick up in the afternoon, so the crossing is smoother in the morning and
therefore more popular,which means you'll never have towait longforyourboat todepart.
Life jackets are provided.
If you're travelling with a vehicle, the Fivondronana Ferry sails between Anstahampano
port, near Ambanja, and Hell-Ville in Nosy Be (Ar20,000, two hours, daily). Departure
times vary according to the high tide.
GETTING AROUND
Nosy Be's main road, which goes all the way around the island and takes in the airport,
Hell-Ville, Ambatoloaka, the west coast and Andilana, is sealed and in good condition.
To/From the Airport
Nosy Be's Fasrene Airport is on the island's east side, about 12km from Hell-Ville. Taxi
fare from the airport to Hell-Ville is around Ar30,000. It is about Ar40,000 to Ambatoloaka
and Andilana.
