Because of the extra security it takes to ensure the safety of these very rare
species, you'll only be able to watch the tortoises through a chain-link fence.
GETTING THERE & AWAY
The entrance to the park is just off the RN4, about 114km southeast of Majunga and 455km
from Antananarivo, close to the village of Ampijoroa. If you don't have your own vehicle,
catch a taxi-brousse to Majunga from Tana (Ar30,000, eight hours) or a taxi-brousse to-
wards Andranofasika from Majunga (Ar5000, three hours) and ask to be dropped off at the
park. You'll have no problem flagging a taxi-brousse to go to Majunga whatever the time
of day, but you may have to go to Majunga to find a taxi-brousse to Tana as many are likely
to be full by the time they drive past the park.
