cluded location overlooking the spiny forest to Nosy Ve, a private stretch of beach, bun-
galows discreetly hidden in the dunes, with hammocks and bucket showers, and convivial
family-style dining all combine to form a casual beach camp ambience here that is unique.
The shacks on the beach, which sleep five, are übercool.
Safari Vezo BUNGALOW €€€

86) Lots of nice touches set these beach bungalows apart from the crowd, including stone
steps, grass matte walls, drapes, shady terraces, and well-appointed bathrooms, the latter
with seawater toilets. There's also a lively beach bar with Bahamian shutters for a bit of
Caribbean vibe.
Lalandaka BUNGALOW €

sounds like a contradiction in terms, but this place manages to pull it off. The family ver-
sions are claustrophobic, but the doubles on the beach have a charming verandah where
you can float in your hammock for hours, while the classy central lodge is just as attractive.
Chez Emile BUNGALOW €

are set back from the beach near the local village, in a well-kept sandy garden. The beach
restaurant (mains Ar10,000) serves fast and cheap seafood.
Getting There & Away
Access is typically by sea or car from Tuléar ( Click here ) although the latter currently re-
quires a very long detour. If and when the new ferry begins operation it will cost Ar25,000
and save a full day of driving.
