Transport along the sand road north to Ifaty/Mangily (Ar6000, three hours) and Manombo
departs from the northern taxi-brousse station on Route de Manombo. There are a few
trucks daily to both destinations, generally departing between 6am and early afternoon.
A taxi-brousse leaves for Morondava a few times weekly (Ar45,000, two days). The road
is very rough, and you will need to overnight in Manja (Ar30,000) on the way.
Taxis-brousses also connect Tuléar with St Augustine (Ar2000, two hours) via a good
sealed road once a day Tuesday to Saturday. Departures are at noon from Tuléar and 2am
from St Augustine.
There's a taxi-brousse every Thursday to Beheloka and Itampolo (12 hours).
GETTING AROUND
To/From the Airport
A taxi between the airport and the centre of town costs a standard Ar15,000 and many ho-
tels in Tuléar and Ifaty do airport transfers.

Pousse-Pousse
Standard rates for pousse-pousse rides start at about Ar500.
Taxi
For rides within town, taxis charge a standard rate of Ar2000 per person, but can climb as
high as Ar15,000 at night. Don't be afraid to bargain.
Northern Reef
The reef north of Tuléar is a gentle curve punctuated by a number of villages and resorts
all the way to Andavadoaka some 207km distant. There is a dirt road to Mangily, then a
coastal sand track the rest of the way which requires a local guide. Locations along the road
are commonly indicated in kilometres north of Tuléar. Villages typically have no signs;
