and is a popular place for a stroll.
Zoma
MARKET
Fianar is a market town, with at least one small market open every day. The largest is the
Zoma, where you'll find everything under the sun. It's held every day along Araben'ny Fa-
haleovantena, although Tuesday and Friday are best.
Hôtel Tombontsoa

pool at the Hôtel Tombontsoa. There's also a sauna.
THE FCE RAILWAY
One of the more popular things to do in Madagascar is to take the FCE (Fi-
anarantsoa-Côte Est) railway from Fianar to the east coast. The train leaves its
charming station around 7am in the morning and chugs along at 20km to 35km
per hr on lines built in the 1930s, reaching Manakara seven to 12 hours later
