Letter 230
To architect, if some listed sub-contractors will not tender
This letter is only suitable for use with SBC.
Dear
We confirm our telephone conversation earlier today that we have just
received the enclosed letters dated [ insert dates ] from sub-contractors listed
under clause 3.8, [ insert name ] declining to tender for the work.
Although clause 3.8.3 provides for the addition of further names by agreement
or that we should carry out the sub-contract work ourselves, sub-letting with
your consent as we see fit, there are few sub-contractors that are capable of
doing this kind of work to an acceptable standard.
This is a very serious situation and, if the contract is not to be frustrated or,
at the very least, substantially delayed or disrupted, urgent action is required.
Please let us have your instructions by return. If you believe a meeting would
be useful, please let us know immediately.
Yours faithfully
