Letter 141
To architect, if contractor not asked to be present at measurement
This letter is only suitable for use with SBC or GC/Works/1 (1998).
Dear
Looking at the latest valuation, we are concerned to note that although it
obviously concerns work which the quantity surveyor has had to measure for
valuation purposes, we were not given the opportunity to be present while the
measurement was carried out. This is contrary to [ insert 'intention of' when using
GC/Works/1 (1998) ] the provisions of clause 5.4 [ substitute '18(1)' when using
GC/Works/1 (1998) ]. The work to which we refer is [ name or describe the work ].
The work in question is now covered up. We should be pleased to receive
copies of your measurement notes. To the extent that we do not agree your
measurements, we believe that your breach leads to a presumption that our
quantities are correct.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
