La Boquería Market, Barcelona
Located in the heart of Barcelona, La Boquería was once an open-air market devoted to
sellingthefruitsandvegetablesproducedbynearbytownsandfarms.Nowadays,themarket
is set inside a large metallic structure and serves as a great example of traditional Spanish
markets - and an aesthetic wonderland.
WalkingthroughoutLaBoquería,you'lldiscovermanystaplesofSpanishcuisine,butyou'll
also immerse yourself in an overwhelming world of colors and smells. Fish, fruits, veget-
ables, meats, shellfish, spices ... all are displayed in creative ways. Visitors can also have a
drink (not free) and listen to street musicians.
The market is located at La Rambla, arguably Barcelona's most famous street; it's very easy
to visit La Boquería while exploring the rest of the city's attractions.
