77. GüellPark, Barcelona
The park was commissioned to the famed architect Antoni Gaudi as a private gardened res-
idential area, but it ended up becoming a public installation. This is a quintessential example
of the artist's Catalan Modernism style.
In Güell Park you'll see unique stone structures, beautiful tiled surfaces, and intriguing
buildings. Its most famous feature is Gaudí's “dragon fountain,” located near the entrance.
Another popular element is an ascending walkway supported by rock pillars that look like
tree trunks.
Some of the best views of Barcelona are from the terraced area at the top of the park, where
you can sit in the colorful tiled seats and take in the panorama.
